Bond, Shaken not stirred

I saw the new Bond movie Casino Royale. One word. Outstanding! Now, I’m not a huge Bond fan. I like most of the other movies, but they don’t hold a special place in my heart or anything cheesy like that. I think they’re fun, but I’m not crazy for them. This one though, I’m crazy for. I love Daniel Craig as Bond. I’ll go ahead on record and say that I think Craig is the best bond ever. He’s smooth, charming, and lethal. He’s not only lethal, he’s brutal. The fight scenes in this are amazing. They’re not filmed in that shaky, way too close to see anything, type of style that every action movie seems to use these days. They back off and let you see that these guys mean business and they’re moving at half speed for safety. They’re accurate enough with their physical brutality to show you that they know what they’re doing, but it’s sloppy enough to feel like you’re really watching this happen. It doesn’t look choreographed is what I mean. Also, this is the most realistic Bond movie to date. Everything looks as though it’s entirely possible that it could happen. Granted, there are a couple of examples of Bond’s hidden secret power of Super Luck, but nothing ridiculous and unbelievable. Nobody surfs down a waterfall on a car door or anything. All of the bad guy’s are believable in that you understand their motives without having to chalk it up to a generic “evil plan” like destroying the world. Everything in the movie is motivated by money, such as the real world is. The villain has little quirks that give him character and make him stand out, but they don’t give special powers and they aren’t cartoony. This is one heck of a fun ride in a movie and it’s done something to me that I haven’t felt in a long, long time. When I walked out of the theatre, I couldn’t wait to see the sequel. I wish it was coming out next week. I definitely want to see this movie again and I’ll be first in line for the sequel, granted that Craig is back and that it has the same realistic feel as this one.
