Ready to ring in the new year

Well, I'm ready for a new year. There's only a short time before it's midnight and the new year is upon us. My wife is in the other room watching TV while I write this. With a tiny bit of luck, and if my wife is in the mood, I'll spend the last minutes of 2006 and the first few minutes of 2007 doing my favorite thing. Wish me luck!

Privacy is a privelege for kids, not a right.

I’ve got to tell you something. I’m worried. I have kids and I’m worried about when they’re old enough to use the computer with Daddy’s help. I’m worried about where they will go and I’m worried about who will find them while their online. I’m a worried father. Can you blame me though? At least once a week you see a news report about some kid being lured to meet a sexual predator somewhere. I found this site for a keystroke logger and I’m definitely getting it when the girls get a little bit older. I think it would be a huge benefit to be able to go back and see what my kids are doing online if I need to. Sure, you could argue that it’s an invasion of privacy, but seriously, they’re kids. Privacy is a privilege bestowed by parents until they are 18. At least, that’s the way I feel about it. A keystroke logger? That’s a must these days.

The Decent

So, I just got finished watching The Decent. I have to say, it's not half bad. They spend a lot of time building up the characters, so it means a tiny bit more when they die. I tell you what, they don't stereotype the characters into caricatures for you. Because of that though, they are all a little hard to tell apart. They all sort of look alike, especially when you gear them up, smear some dirt on them, and take away almost all of the lighting. The only person you can really tell apart from first glance is the asian chick, but then again, she's the only person who's ethnically different from everyone else. Anyway, the reactions are pretty realistic, at least I think so. It does what it sets out to do, which is try to scare you. (I'm not going near a cave anytime soon). The ending was a bit lame, but still ok. Anyway, if you're a horror fan, you should probably check it out.

Moving to Boise?

My wife and I were recently talking about moving out of Missouri. The reason for the move would primarily be a change of scenery. We like Missouri ok, but we want to live someplace different. My wife was born in Iowa and still has family there, but she moved around a bit while she was growing up. When she started high school, her mother thought it would be best to settle down someplace, so they choose St. Louis. I have lived most of my life in Missouri. I mean, my Dad was military and we lived in Germany for a couple of years, but we moved to Missouri when I was seven. Almost all of my memories growing up are from Missouri. So, basically, I’ve lived here my whole life. Basically. Anyway, while looking around at places to live, I found this great site on Boise, Idaho living. We looked at the site and did a little research on Boise and it looks like a nice place to live. The quality of life seems nice there. It seems like a place I would want to bring my kids up in. The site has everything you’d want in your search for Boise homes. Check them out and wish me luck.

Indy 4 announced...again.

So, Lucas has come out and said that they will start production of Indiana Jones 4 next year. This would be great news if we hadn't heard it every year for the last three or four years. According to Lucas, Spielberg, Ford, and himself are all on board for the script. I really want it to happen, but I also want them to do it right or not at all. If it's going to be crap, then just don't do it. I'd rather have nothing at all than a crappy Indy movie. They also better address Indy's age and acknowledge it. Here's to hoping they do it right.

Hannibal Rising teaser

So, Amazon.com has the teaser trailer for the latest Hannibal Lecter movie on their site. I watched it and it seems pretty good. I've heard descriptions and reviews of the later drafts of the script and it was a little unimpressive. It seemed like it started well and ended OK, but the middle part was a bit weak and contrived. So, if you read the sequel to Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal, then you know about his early childhood and having his sister dragged off in the night only to me made into soup and fed to him. Well, this movie shows that stuff, then shows his escape, then (this is where it gets ridiculous) apparently he finds his long lost aunt who happens to be a Japanese woman who teaches him the ways of the Samurai, then he goes on a revenge driven tour of killing. I get the tortured childhood, most psycho serial killers have them. I also get the revenge driven rampage of killling, as would be expected of the tortured youth (at least in a movie it's expected). The part I don't get, and have never gotten from any other instance of Hannibal Lecter in a movie is the whole Samurai part. I mean, when have you EVER watched Hannibal in a movie and said to yourself "Ah, this guy must have been trained by the Samurai." I pretty much garuntee that you haven't. It's ridiculous. That's like showing a prequel to the Friday the 13th movies and having a teenage Jason being taught how to kill and take hits by champions of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Ridiculous.

Financing now available...

If you’ve been to Great Price Furniture, North Carolina’s largest online furniture retailer, you already know that they have ridiculously great pricing on all of the same name brand stuff that you’d pay a whole boat load more for at another store. Now you can get financing at the store too. No longer is it an issue to come up with the money for this great furniture now, with Great Price Furniture’s furniture financing, you can get the furniture you want now and pay later. You can qualify for either 90 days no interest and no payments or even 12 months with no interest and no payments. That rocks. Check them out.

Interview follow up

So, I haven't officially been made an offer yet after I went on that interview not quite a month ago. I thought things might be running slow because of the holidays. Earlier this week, I had given up on the idea that an offer would be made. Perhaps they interviewed someone better, perhaps I overshot their budget. I don't know.
Today I got an email from them though. I got an email saying that things have dramatically slowed down because of the holidays and that they were checking my references. They don't check references unless they are planning on making an offer. Sure, I could "technically" lose the job in the reference check, but that's highly unlikely since I'm the one who gave them the references and I know what each and every one of them is going to say. If they're to that point, I'm as good as hired.
I told this to my wife (the worrier) and she, of course, got worried. She wants to sit down and write down the numbers. We've got to figure out what the bottom line offer is that we can afford to accept. The insurance is ridiculously more expensive at the new place, so if I have to take insurance with them, unless I'm making substantially more at the new job, it won't be worth it. So, it's crunching numbers time.

A Christmas aftermath

Christmas is over now. No more Yule tide joy or Christmas wishes coming true. Now we deal with the aftermath. Now we have to deal with HOW in the heck are we going to PAY for all of the stuff we bought for Christmas? Well, if you’re like most of the world, you put it on credit cards. One thing you don’t want to do is let that debt sit there until next Christmas, so what you should probably do is find a card with 0% balance transfers. Cardguide is a great site to compare credit cards, so check it out.

Feeling better

In case anyone was worried, I'm feeling much better today. No cruds anymore. I'm up and about and feeling pretty good. I'm still in the "recovery" stage, so I'm not eating any spicy burritos or anything yet. I've been under quarantine for the past two days as not to infect my children. Hopefully they still remember me when I see them tonight.

HP lays on the goods

Check out this latest Postie Patrol video. I’ve embedded it in the post. Personally, my favorite parts are where Robin tries to make a snow angel out of snow that’s frozen solid. Hillarious! She starts banging limbs into the snow (more like ice) to try and carve out this angel. She slams her head back and you can hear it crunch. I wasn’t sure if it was the ice cracking or her skull. Crazy. My second favorite part was after she completed the tasks and Ted gets everyone to whoop and holler. Funny stuff. Oh, one last entry into the favorite parts is when Ted rips off his pants to reveal shorts. Again, funny stuff. That Ted is one zany guy. He must be a blast to work for.

Viral escalation

My cold seems to have escalated to a full on flu. I feel horrible. Last night it seemed like every hour or so brought a new symptom. At one point, I started coughing so hard that I threw up, an hour later I had the chills so bad that I was shivering hard enough to shake the bed. Not a fun night. Not a fun morning. Not fun at all. Blah.

Colds suck!

So, I've got this cold. I would call it a chest cold, if I were asked to categorize it. I'm congested and I'm coughing my lungs out. I've got chills and I feel a little weak. I'm not sick enough to not go to work though. I'm also not sick enough that it envokes any sympathy from anyone. So, that sucks. I'm miserable but I can't reap any of the very few rewards of being sick. Colds suck!

Have coupons, will travel

I just popped onto the ole CouponCheif.com to check for a coupon code for Expedia.com. Of course, they had an Expedia.com coupon. That site has a coupon for everything. I honestly don’t know how you can live with yourself if you shop anyplace online without checking CouponCheif.com first. The only explanation would be that you actually like paying full price for stuff. That would be the only explanation.

Windows Vista security flaw discovered...already

I read an article on MSNBC this morning on a security flaw in Microsoft Windows Vista. I'm not surprised, but I am. I'm not surprised that a security flaw was discovered, but I am surprised it was done so quickly. This is the most secure operating system of all time, according to Microsoft anyway. I thought the confidence in that statement meant that it would take a good 6 months to find a flaw. Oh well...secuirity flaws in Windows, what else is new, right?

Reverse of the Curse!

So, looking at TeamOneTickets.com, I see that I can get Spring Training Tickets for the Red Sox. I would love to attend the Red Sox spring training. I’ve been to spring training for the STL Cardinals, SF Giants, and the Chicago Cubs. I love going to spring training. I almost like it more than going to the games. I’ve said this before in posts, but spring training is like all of the fun of the game with none of the disappointment. I would especially love to see them because of the “Reverse of the Curse” and all. It’s all so cool. Anyway, if you’re looking for some Boston Red Sox Spring Training Tickets, then check out that site.

The Fantastic Four 2 trailer is online!

The Fantastic Four 2 trailer is now online. You can check it out. It's wicked cool. This trailer gives me high hopes for the movie. I like the trailer too because it's like a clip of the movie and not just a montage of scenes in rapid succession. Anyway, check it out.

Let's go Cub fans, let's go!

I talked to my buddy today in Chicago and we got to making plans for my trip to up Chi-town to go see the Cubs play. He told me about this great site for getting the Chicago Cubs Spring Training Tickets. If you’ve never attended spring training, you don’t know what you’re missing. It’s the ultimate summer fun. It’s like all the fun of baseball with none of the disappointment. When you’re team loses or isn’t doing well that game, it ruins the fun. When you attend spring training, you get the fun of baseball, but there’s no actual game, so no chance of losing. I don’t know, that’s just my theory. I almost liked spring training more than the actual season. I’m odd like that though. Anyway, if you’re looking for Chicago Cubs Spring Training Tickets, check them out.

Michael Meyers has been cast

Rob Zombie has cast Michael Meyers in his Halloween remake. He's cast both the 12 year old version and the adult version. The kid is nobody anyone's every heard of, so not really worth mentioning. I'm sure he'll do fine. The adult Michael Meyers will be played by Tyler Mane. You probably don't recognize his name, but you may recognize his face. He was in Zombie's last movie, The Devil's Rejects as Rufus. More recognizably though, he was Sabretooth in X-Men and Ajax in Troy. He's big and mean looking, so I'm sure he'll do fine.

Need a place to stay?

I’m going to be taking a couple of trips in the new year, including a trip to Canada in January, and I found the coolest site for making your Hotel Reservations Very simply, it’s called HotelReservations.com. You can find hotels, motels, resorts, and vacation rentals on the site extremely easily. They have very competitive rates for everything as well. You can book your hotel right there online, or you can call them toll free with the number listed on their site. They even have total vacation packages available on HotelReservations.com as well. You just select how many destinations you will be traveling to, what type of package you need (Flight+Hotel+Car, or Flight+Hotel, or Hotel+Car, or Flight+Car), you then select where you are leaving from, where you are going to, and when your trip is scheduled, and lastly you choose how many people are going on the trip. It whips up your package and you’re good to go. The site couldn’t be easier to use. It’s very intuitive and well laid out. If you have problems navigating the site though, there’s always the toll free 800 number.
One of the coolest things is their vacation rental selections. You just select where you want to go and they find you a place to rent. Want to rent a little bungalow by the beach, no problem. Check them out, you won’t regret it.

Mapping my way across the country

It's Christmas today and I just wanted to write about a gift I received from my wife. I got a Garmin Streetpilot c320. Very spiffy. I'm loading up maps to it right now, as I type. I can't wait to drive around and try to get lost so I can use it. It shouldn't be hard for me to get lost, I do it all the time. I have no internal sense of direction...hence the reason my wife bought this for me. I guess she was tired of me calling her asking her how do I get back to the highway, or where is the nearest gas station. Now I won't have to. Woo hoo!

Hold that pose...

I consider myself an amateur photographer of sorts. I really enjoy taking pictures and I have a DSLR that I think is pretty nice. Mostly I just photograph my kids, but when we go to the zoo and out an about, I end up taking a lot of photographs of the animals or anything else I think makes an interesting picture. So, there is a contest going on at PhotographyCorner.com which any photographer should enter. It is a Photograph of the Year Contest with $14,000 in prizes available. $14,000! If you take some good photos, you should definitely enter the contest.
The rules are pretty simple and laid out in easy to understand English. An example of some rules are:
· Submitted photographs must be between 1024x768 and 2048x1446 in size.
· Submitted photographs must have all EXIF information intact
· Submitted photographs must have been taken during the year of 2006
Pretty simple really. Just make sure that you were the one who took the photo and follow the rules, you should be fine.
There are a ton of great sponsers for the contest including iStockphoto, Lensbabies, Bibble Labs, Porter Case, and ImageAlign PRO.
There are still a couple of days left in 2006 to take some photos if you don’t have a winner already. Go, shoot!

Random showing of love for PayPerPost

This is not a paid post. There is no sponser for this posting. I just wanted to share with you all that I love PayPerPost. For some posts here and there, next Christmas will be paid for. I really love how I can write about things I would write about anyway and get a little bit of money for it. It's great. If you're reading this and wondering how I make money by writing about stuff I love to write about anyway, check out the box to the right. Click it, sign up, get paid. You can't lose!

Get off the couch!!!

Since we’ve had kids, my wife and I haven’t been as active as we’d like. We’re both getting a bit soft in the middle, although when she asks I always say she looks great. What do you think I am, an idiot? Anyway, we kept planning on joining a gym or to start going to the YMCA or something. It never happens. We’ve been saying it for about a year now. The other night, we sat down and looked at our schedule and the free time that we have after getting home from work. We don’t have much. We definitely don’t have enough for both of us to hit the gym. We decided that we’re going to have to buy a piece of exercise equipment and start working out at home. So, cruising around and looking for information and inspiration, we stumbled upon the NoExcusesGym site. It’s a little bit geared toward fitness women, but there is a lot of solid advice there for guys as well. Two things I liked on there are the daily tips for your workout, and I especially like the 20 Ways to Squeeze Exercise into your hectic schedule. So, if you’re looking for tips to improve your current workout or if you’re looking to just start your physical fitness routine, check it out.

Ricky Bobby

So, I just watched Taladega Night: The ballad of Ricky Bobby. I tell you what, it was decent. It had some really funny parts and a ton of great one liners. I was pleasantly surprised. Most of the stuff with him in the hospital was pretty hillarious. Also, his buddy calling him up all the time after they had their fight was funny too. Check it out if you haven't seen it.

Looking to make some home improvements?

A few months back, I took out a home equity loan to do make some improvements to my home. We updated our kitchen and finished our basement. The kitchen and the basement look great, thanks for asking. If you’re thinking about doing something similar, you can check out PersonalHomeLoanMortgages.com to get some info on what you need to look for before signing the dotted line. Check them out.

Rob Zombie's Halloween remake

So, I don't know if anyone has heard or not, but Rob Zombie is remaking John Carpenter's Halloween. Could be good, could be horrifically bad. Here is a bit of news about the casting though. He has cast his choice for Dr. Loomis. He cast Malcolm McDowell as the good doctor. I think it's a good choice as I like McDowell. Hopefull the rest of the movie won't suck around him.

The first winner of an HP camera is announced

Ok, so the first winner of the HP camera from the HP camera blogging contest on payperpost has been announced. The video is embedded above. I have mixed feelings on the video. On one hand, it’s boring. It can be described like this “A girl talks to the camera and says that so and so has won the camera. Congratulations to her.” It’s not very fun or exciting, unless you’re the person winning the camera. On the other hand, it’s just the announcement of the winner of the contest. What are you expecting? Did you want dancing elephants and ponies walking a tightrope? Sometimes simple is better.

Speed Racer movie?!?

Apparently, the rumor floating around is that the Wachowski brothers are making a Speed Racer movie. The other rumor is that Keanu Reeves is starring in it. Normally, I would think this is a bad idea...but the teaming up of Reeves and the creators of The Matrix worked out pretty good for the first Matrix movie. I'm not a big fan of the sequels though. Anyway, a Speed Racer movie sounds like it could be great. Hopefully they won't screw it up.

Rockstartup: Episode III

Hey everyone, check out the latest and greatest episode of Rockstartup, a reality show about the Web 2.0 startup of PayPerPost.com. The show is really funny and the CEO, Ted, is hilarious and spontaneous. Definitely a must see. Sure, the Rockstartup reality show is an entertaining show following some very interesting and charismatic people, but it is also an inspirational journey into a startup company that above all, is trying to climb their way to the top. Will they make it? Will they fail? The future is uncertain, but I’d put my money on their success if I were you. Watch the show, you won’t be disappointed.

Incoming!

The In-Laws are coming into town for Christmas. Oh joy. Wish me luck in braving the wife's parents. I'm sure I'll be subject to disapproval and repetative stories like everytime they come into town. Good times. Good times.

Sick all the time?

Do you get sick a lot? Does it seem that everytime a “bug” is going around that you always end up on the receiving end? Perhaps your immune system is run down. For Immune System Revival use Glycosure. Glycosure has no harsh side effects and has been clinically proven to be 99% effective. Give it a shot.

Mongolian greatness

I had Mongolian BBQ for lunch today. A conversation sparked up with a guy in line to the grill. He smirked to himself as he looked over at the regular buffet line and said "Amateurs". My lunch companion and I smirked to ourselves. We both replied at the same time, "Rookie mistake". Then we commented that we work in another part of the city and take a 20 minute drive to come out to the Mongolian BBQ. A different guy in line said "totally worth it." We thought all of this was very funny. This Mongolian BBQ place is basically just a hole in the wall, but it's reached legendary status around town. My lunch companion and I make a pilgrimage out to it at least twice a month. Usually every other Friday. Man, I love that place.

Get some shade in your car

It doesn’t matter what kind of car you have, it ALWAYS looks cooler with tinted windows. Tinted windows don’t just make your car look cool, but it also reduces glare, it adds UV protection, it rejects heat generated by sunlight. Window tinting is well worth the money. Check out snaptint.com and get quality window tinting.

A picture of the Silver Surver from the Fantastic Four 2 movie

So, here he is. USA Today was the one to get to publish the first picture. I'm not sure why he has eyeballs though. He should just have blank silver eyes. I don't like that. Who knows though. This picture looks OK, but it looks pretty fake looking. I'll have to wait and see what he looks like as he's moving around and flying before I officially give it the thumbs down or thumbs up. I'm not a big Silver Surfer fan, so I'm not going to be excited or disappointed either way. The only thing I'm worried about is if they make this Fantastic Four 2 movie junk, then it may close some doors to some other great comic book movies that may never get made. Because of that, I want Fantastic Four 2 to succeed.

New Harry Potter book title released

The new book is going to be called Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. It sounds a bit morbid, but what do I know, right? It is the last book of the series, so in a way, it is the death of the Harry Potter books.
On a related, but different topic, what I'm curious about is whether or not Emma Watson will finish the movie series. I had heard a rumor that she was thinking about quitting to go to college. She says that she never intended on becoming an actor and did it just for fun. She says that now she is graduating high school, she wants to go off to college and quit acting. I think it would be a shame to have to finish out the movies with a different person playing Hermione. Just my thoughts.

A great place for some movie reviews

I’m known for posting a few tidbits of movie news here, but rarely do I delve into a movie review in great detail. This guy though, he does a lot of movie reviews and is THE place to find out if a movie you are interested in is a genuine masterpiece or a waste of celluloid.

Want to see Jack Sparrow's Dad?

I found this picture of Depp as Jack Sparrow and Keith Richards as Jack Sparrow's dad. The picture also shows Marty the little person. He's friends with the Rolloffs from Little People, Big World on TLC. My wife loves that show. I've watched it with her and it is pretty good. This Marty guy is friends with the people from that show so he shows up every once in a while. Anyway, I thought everyone might like to see the picture.

Lend me your ear...and some money.

I’m going to be getting a new car in a bit and it got me thinking about the loans it takes to buy things of substantial value. There are the smaller personal loans for purchasing smaller things that you may need or want, such as a new computer, some furniture, or fixing up your beat up old car. Then there are secured loans for those bigger purchases like actually buying a house, a new car, or even buying someone else’s beat up old car. I think loans are so interesting because you’re making an arrangement with someone to give you some money in exchange for paying them a little bit more than you owe them when you pay them back. It’s such a great concept…assuming that the loaner can trust the person they are loaning to. Anyway, check out SelectLoans and find out what kinds of loans are available for you.

More Transformers movie stuff, including the new TRAILER!!!

Two things on the Transformers movie. The finished picture I posted earlier is posted here. Also, the new TRAILER is now available...and it rocks! I can't wait for this movie now. At first, I was pretty skeptical, but now, it looks amazing. I'm all excited about it. You should be too. I'm sure you will be after checking out the trailer.

Out of control

I have mixed feelings about credit cards. I think credit cards can be great if you use them properly and only when needed. There are some people who use credit cards as their primary spending device, but they do it right and pay the bill off each month. Most people use credit cards to spend outside their means and end up accumulating tons of debt though. My sister is a good example, she has a massive credit card debt that they never seem to be able to make a dent in. That’s bad news. I recommend everyone heads over to credit cards UK to check out the latest credit card news and credit card advice. They’ve got some good stuff on there to help keep your credit card use under control.

Cruddy day.

I feel like CRUD today. My kid was up all night. I’m not exaggerating, she woke up and was crying every 30 – 45 minutes and I had to get up to comfort her. I feel exhausted, grumpy, and I have a headache. Not a good way to start the day.

It works within 5 to 7 days and without any negative side effects. Clinically proven to be 99% effective, how can you go wrong. Check it out.

Clueless

I want to get a tattoo to represent my twin little girls, but I'm clueless as what to get. Everything I suggest, my wife doesn't think will look good. Of course, I'm just throwing suggestions and hoping that she'll inspire me with something. I'm getting nothing though. If anyone reading this has an idea of what a good tattoo for a father to get to represent his twin daughters, please leave a comment and let me know. I'm stumped.

Get some Cholestelow and take care of it

If you’ve got a cholesterol problem, there’s only one all-natural remedy you should be taking. It’s called Cholestelow and it’s been clinically proven to be 99% effective in lowering cholesterol levels with the side effects of pharmaceutical drugs. Seriously, why are you messing around with anything else? Get some Cholestelow and take care of it.

Planning a trip to Canada

I'm going to be heading up to Canada in January for a class in Toronto. I'm really excited about it. I've posted about a job interview I went on recently (which I haven't heard back on yet) but I'm almost hesitant to take it strictly because it would mean passing up on this trip. I expressed my concerns to my wife and she said that she would take me up to Canada for a vacation if I get the job and have to pass on the trip. If that happens, I'm going to take her up on it. I'm not sure why exactly, but I REALLY want to visit Canada. I also really want to visit Alaska and Maine, but Canada is tops on my list. It's funny too, I don't know what to do up there. I know they have the needle in Toronto and it's supposed to be the world's tallest building, so I'm definitely going to see that, but I'm not sure what else there is there. I want to do all the "Canadian stuff", but I don't know what that is. I mean, I guess I could find someone to play hockey with, but that isn't something I need to go to Canada for. I want to eat local Canadian foods that we can't or don't get in the US. I want to do things that I can't do in the US too. I'm just so excited. I don't know if I'll remember a single thing from the class I'm going up there to take. Hopefully I will though, I have to perform an installation, administer the new software, and train everyone how to use it. Let's hope I retain at least some of it.
Oh, all of this came up because we started getting the requisitions together today for approval to book the hotels and flights and such.

Do you have a MaternityCard?

It costs a small fortune to have a baby these days. Even with insurance, the bills really do pile up. I found something that helps offset the ridiculous Cost of Having a Baby. AHCO has a site called MaternityCard and with it, you can have a comprehensive maternity service package. Experts will formulate a maternity package tailored specifically to the expecting mother’s needs. They even offer a Certificate of Guarantee that states you will save at least the cost of your yearly membership or they pay you the difference plus $200. AHCO and MaternityCard work with a huge network of doctors and medical facilities on a daily basis to ensure that expecting mothers receive the best care available at the best rates available. If you’re expecting, they’re expecting you at MaternityCard.

Fantasy Football disapointments...

I am tired of getting screwed by Yahoo Sports. I participate in a Fantasy Football league with some guys from work and I keep getting screwed by the predictions on Yahoo. There is another website that a friend told me about called FFToday.com and I think I’m going to start going with their predictions instead, because Yahoo is not doing me right. My two QBs are Hasselbeck and Favre. While neither one did especially well this week, Yahoo predicted Favre the better performer by far. Hasselbeck did decent, not quite meeting projections, but still close enough for me to consider it accurate. Favre though, bit disappointment. He didn’t even score a full point. He gave me 0.91 points. Not even a full point. I’m in the playoffs here! I can’t roll with that kind of performance. Geesh!

Get your Ohio State BCS National Championship Tickets on the cheap!

For all of you Ohio State fans out there, like the rabid fan my cousin is. There is a site that you HAVE to visit for your Ohio State BCS National Championship Tickets. You can get tickets there cheaper than almost all of the other ticket websites out there. Listen to this crazyness. In order for someone to purchase BCS National Championship tickets at face value, FACE VALUE, a donor must contribute $2500 per year, plus the cost of season tickets at roughly $600 a pair, then pay the face value of the BCS Championship tickets at $550 a pair. Is that craziness or what?!? So, check out this site for your Ohio State BCS National Championship Tickets and save yourself TONS of money. Hurry up though, my rabid cousin frequents the site and who know how many tickets are left now.

Lord of the Rings day

So, TNT played all three Lord of the Rings movies back to back to back in HD. A couple of comments. First, wow, those movies are really long, which only compounds how long they are by running them back to back. Second, those movies are really good. Third, this is something that TNT did that was really cool. They spliced the ending credits and beginning credits of the movies together. As one movie ended, they split screen it and pulled the ending credits to the right. To the left, they beginning of the next movie started. It ended up so that about the time the ending credits actually finished (which they were running in that ridiculous high speed where you can't actually read anything) then the beginning credits ended and the next movie was kicking in. It was very cool. Anyway, I just thought I'd share.

Waking up to golf

My in-laws live in a golf course community. We visit them every Christmas, as well as various other times of the year. I tell you what, I used to think it was a pain to visit my wife’s parents, but now…I can’t wait to go. If you like playing golf, there is NOTHING like waking up on a Saturday morning and riding your own golf cart over to tee off. If you have the means, I highly recommend you try it.

Problems with your brakes?

A friend of mine recently called me to ask me how much it was to get new brakes installed. I told him that there are usually three levels of brakes they offer, the cheapos at around $80, the mid range around $120, and the super expensive brakes around $160. Of course, those are just very generalized amounts. They could be much less or much more. I'm only guessing. Of course, I wouldn't know because I change my brakes myself. They're only ridiculously easy to change. They require very little "specialized" knowledge and no special tools. They require that you jack up your car, put them on jack stands, take off your tires, unbolt the brakes, pull out the old brake pads and slap in the new ones. Then put it all back together. Now, I don't blame people for having it done. It will cost you $30 to $50 for the brake pads and it will take about an hour of your time. You can get it done faster if you've streamlined the process or if can take longer if you take your time or aren't sure of what you're doing. It takes me about an hour. Anyway, my friend was concerned about going to get his brakes done because they always try to hit him up with extra stuff every time he goes to get anything done on his car. He doesn't know much about cars, so he is never sure if he actually needs it or not. He is generally not the type who is going to work on thier own car, so he isn't going to want to do his own brakes, unless it was going to save him several hundred dollars. I told him to go and get his brakes done, but if they tell him that they want to change his rotors, to run from there and come to me. I had my rotors changed once. I couldn't believe how ridiculously expensive it was. They charged me $150 for each rotor, just for the part, then they charged me another $100 of labor. Absolutely ridiculous. I had no idea how easy they were to change. Seriously, if you're changing your breaks, they can just fall off if you're not carefull. There is nothing holding them in except for the tire and the brakes. Once you have both off, the rotor just pulls off. I changed my rotor for $60 each for the parts. Easy, easy, easy. Most things on your car can be easily changed yourself. So, if you want to save a ton of money, buy yourself a repair manual and go to town. If you know someone handy around cars, invite him over for some beer and have him supervise you.

Better than borrowing money from Vinnie!

There is a great site for loans at UK Loans. They’ve got tons of information on just about every kind of loan you can think of. Well, they don’t have info on getting a loan from your cousin Vinnie, but then, you wouldn’t want a loan through him anyway. Seriously though, they have info on Secured Loans, Debt consolidation loans, Bad credit loans, Home loans, IVA, Mortgages, and remortgages. The site is well laid out and is easy to navigate. Everything is clearly marked and all of the advice is sound. If you don’t have the money and need the money, this is the place to go.

The mysterious voice, revealed!

Ok, so this probably doesn't bother most of you, but if I hear a voice and it sounds familar, it drives me nuts if I can't figure out who it is. Well, my kids watch Playhouse Disney on The Disney Channel on the weekends. They accouncer who announces the next show or gives information about The Disney Channel sounded very familar. I just couldn't put my finger on who it was. Normally, I try to figure this out on my own, but this morning I broke down and googled her. Her name is Allyce Beasley. So, if anyone else is wondering who she is...that's who. You're welcome.

Give the gift of vacation!

HotelShopUK has come up with a great idea for holiday gifts. They’re idea is to give hotel vouchers for a free stay at a hotel. This is a fantastic idea. By giving a voucher to a hotel, you’re not only giving them a gift of a free room, but your essentially giving them the gift of a vacation. While it’s not a cheap gift, you get “credit” for giving much more than you spent. If you give the gift of hotel vouchers and they go on vacation to that place, you essentially gave them the entire vacation. You’re the reason they took the vacation, to redeem the voucher. So, while you didn’t actually pay for the whole vacation, you get credit for sending them. Very cool indeed. You can get hotel vouchers here.

New information

I still haven't been contacted about that job offer yet, but I do have some more info. Apparently it's going to happen next week. So, I'm pumped. I'm especially pumped after talking to my friend who works there today. He told me that he just got a raise and a bonus. He's only been there 6 months so far. His raise was more than anything I'd gotten in my current job and the bonus was pretty well on track with the kind of bonus I'm used to receiving here. So, that's super good. Now I just need to wait for the call.

Spring training is coming soon

My wife is from San Francisco, so when we go visit her family, we usually do a bunch of different stuff related to the city. In gearing up for the next year’s trip, I just wanted to share a little personal experience I had when we went to spring training for the San Francisco Giants while we were out there. If you’ve never gone to spring training, you should definitely check it out. You can get your San Francisco Giants Tickets at this great site. We used them last year when we got our tickets and we got great seats. The prices were reasonable too. The only thing I would suggest would be to keep your eyes open. We had three balls come out and land somewhat near us. If you aren’t paying attention, you could get popped with one. So, have fun but keep your eyes peeled so you get to take home a souvenir and not a lump on the head.

Pictures from Pirates 3

These pictures are pretty cool. I like Keira in the asian themed outfit. Very nice. Also, I like the second shot of the asian pirates. The asian pirate looks an awful lot like Ken Watanabe, but he isn't listed in the cast on IMDB.com. By the way, IMDB.com is the greatest site when you need to know a movie name, quote, actor, or anything else having to do with movies.

Get your FAFSA online

I am a college student (but not for much longer, I graduate soon) and I use financial aid through FAFSA. At FAFSA online you can find the FAFSA form. So, if you’re going to school, going to be going to school, or you are thinking about going back to school, check out FAFSA on the Web.

No news yet...

Well, I haven't received any word on the interview I recently went on. I guess that no news is good news for now. I was told that I would definitely be hearing from them when I left the interview. I don't neccessarily want them to call right away because I want to make it to January 1st at my current job before quiting. If I am still employed there on December 31st, then I get my 401k bump. My job is kind of weird in that they don't match anything for your 401k, but instead they just give you a bump at the end of the year of 7% of your salary right into your 401k. This is the first year I am elligible for it and I hope to get it. I mean, it's several grand, so that's nice, eh? In a perfect world, they'll hold off and call me at the end of next week. I'll then put in my two weeks notice just before christmas and my last week at my current job will be the first week of January. That'll give me the bump.

Need some security?

They have a great Portable Security System over at Laser Shield. I’m definitely picking one of these up. I saw it over at Home Depot too, so I’ll either order it online or get it there. It’s very cool and it monitors 24 hours a day, so that’s good. Check it out if you’re in the market for one.

Have no fear, Underdog is here!

So, apparently they are making an Underdog movie. Correction, apparently they MADE an Underdog movie. I've posted pictures of the poster and a shot of Underdog himself in flight. My feelings on this are that this could be incredibly funny or incredibly bad. I'm hoping for the funny option because I have fond memories of Underdog on Saturday morning and Sunday afternoons when I was a kid. The effects don't look too bad in the pictures, but we'll have to see what it all looks like when it's moving around. Hopefully we all won't be too terribly disapointed.

When my dehumidifier...er...I mean, my heater blows...

I’ve got a problem with my heater. It completely dries my throat, my skin, and even my eyes a bit. The heater in my house is like a double edged sword. It’s great because it heats me when I’m cold, but it also SUCKS the moisture from the air and dries me out. So, I got myself one of those furnace humidifiers. The thing is, I found out about it from HumidifierInformation.com. The site is great. There is only one way you don’t have this problem in the winter and that’s because you’ve already got a humidifier…so you already know. If you don’t know about furnace humidifiers yet, check the link out and inform yourself. Your skin and throat will thank you.

The Lost Room

I just finished watching the third and last part of the Sci-Fi channel mini-series called The Lost Room. Now, I'll be the first to admit that some...ok, most of the movies and mini-series that Sci-Fi puts out is utter crap. The Lost Room is not one of them. It was incredibly good. I highly recomend that everyone see it. Well, everyone interested in that sort of thing. The mini-series obviously is setting up a series for the future. It left a bunch of openings at the end so that a series could continue. The primary plot line of the mini-series was wrapped up though. That's good. It wasn't just a huge lead in to the eventual series. If they never made the series, it would still be good. Although, you'd be curious about a few things that they left open at the end, they weren't gaping holes that couldn't be filled by your imagination though. I don't want to give too much away about the plot, so I won't start talking about it. If I start, I won't stop. So, just watch the dang thing. I think they're playing all three episodes back to back on Sunday. Check it out.

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly...Cholesterol

I’m not that old, but I’ve got some inherited cholesterol problems. I found a great herbal cholesterol remedy though. It increases your good cholesterol and lowers your bad cholesterol. Cholestasys is the name of the product and uses the latest nanotechnology to ensure its effectiveness. I can’t describe how happy I am that I’ve taken this product and my cholesterol has improved. You guys should definitely check it out.

Behind the Mask trailer

Wow. Everyone, check out this Trailer for Behind the Mask. This movie looks great. It's part comedy, part slasher horror. Imagine that Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, and the Halloween movies are real and take place in our world. Now imagine that there is someone who idolizes those killers and wants to become one. He has a plan on how he's going to become a masked serial killer and he's documenting it. That's the premise of the movie. The full title of the movie is Behind the Mask: The rise of Leslie Vernon. The trailers starts showing some brief shots of the killer stalking his prey and there are a few jump cut scenes that are meant to startle. Then it cuts to a documentary/interview style of movie where the killer, unmasked and pretty normal looking, is talking about how much cardio he has to do in order to keep up with the victims. How they always run so hard and fast and you can't just keep up by walking after them. He then talks about how victims are chosen and how it's not just some random obsession that starts it. It shows him investigating the house he is planning on killing people in. He's counting the possible exits from the house and how to foil any exits. He talks about his choices of weapons. Then it cuts back to the horror aspect and it shows him stalking the house and killing the people. The movie looks great. I can't wait to see it. It's basically a masked serial killer movie from the killer's perspective. I had an idea for a movie like this a few years ago. It's kind of cool to see that someone else plucked it from the Jungian shared consciousness and made the movie. I can't wait to see it. Did I mention that yet? I can't wait to see it.

The PBRs are coming, the PBRs are coming!

You have never seen anything so crazy as someone riding a bull. I mean, CRAZY! Can you imagine riding such a huge, powerful beast? I can’t even fathom it. I saw my first bull ride at the Professional Bull Riders World Finals (PBR Finals) in Las Vegas, Nevada last year. If you are interested in going, you can click this link to get tickets to the Professional Bull Riders. To us, watching the guys ride the bulls is fast and it looks like they’re barely on there before being thrown off. I imagine to them that the few seconds they’re on it that it seems like several minutes. I’ve never ridden a bull, so I don’t know for sure, but it just looks insane. Now, I’m not a big rodeo fan or anything. Heck, I’m not even a fan of country music. I was dragged to the PBR Finals last year as I was in Vegas last year with some friends and one of my friends is pretty into it. He convinced me to go and I had such a blast. It’s hard not to get into it when you’re there. We’re planning on going back again this year. Perhaps I’ll see you there. Pick up your PBR Finals tickets at the link.

A funny Star Wars CD...sort of.

This is HILLARIOUS! I was at Wal-Mart the other day with my wife. We were browsing the CDs for holiday music for my little girls. We were near the soundtrack section and I noticed a Star Wars CD that looked a bit…odd. So, I hopped on over to investigate. Sure enough, it was a Star Wars soundtrack CD with actual Star Wars songs on it performed by an actual orchestra. It was something like “Star Wars Selections” or something to that effect. The actual song names were legit in that they contained titles like “The Sith lord’s revenge” and “A Jedi’s retreat” and stuff like that. The odd thing was the cover of the CD. It didn’t actually contain ANY images from Star Wars. The images contained references to what might lead you to think of Star Wars without actually displaying anything that could be confused for actual Star Wars images. It’s like the company putting out the CD was able to obtain the rights to publish the music from the movie, but wasn’t able to obtain ANY rights to use any likeness of anything from the movie at all. The cover had the shadowed out figures of what you can only assume are Jedi, but in now way resemble anyone from the actual cast. They were fighting with swords. I’m not talking “laser” swords. I’m talking long swords or broadswords. With the hilts and all. They looked like a medieval knight’s swords. I don’t know about you, but I don’t seem to recall anyone from the movies using a long sword in any battles. I found this Hillarious. It took my wife several minutes to calm me down. I actually considered buying the CD just to show my friends, colleagues, loved ones…
I’ve search and scoured the internet looking for a picture of it. I can’t find it anywhere, so I’m going to have to trek back to Wal-Mart and take a picture of it with my cell phone. I’ll post the picture whenever that happens. If you happen to frequent Wal-Mart, head over to the CD soundtrack section and see if you can find it. Funny, funny stuff.

You've got to hear it to believe it!

Have I got the site for you to check out for your Video Conference needs! It’s called LifeSize and quality of products is amazing. Do yourself a favor, go to the LifeSize Phone page and discover what high-definition audio conferencing is all about. You won’t believe the difference between a regular old conference phone and the LifeSize Phone. You’ve got to hear it to believe it.

A picture of the cast from My Name is Bruce

Ok, here is a group shot of the cast from the new movie My Name is Bruce. The movie has a Galaxy Quest feel to it in that Bruce Campbell is mistaken for his character Ash from the Evil Dead movies. He is recruited to fight a monster in Oregon. It sounds awesome and I can't wait. It's supposed to be released in February. Keep an eye out for it.

Need your visitors scrubbed clean first?

You’re normal, everyday, run of the mill person may not be concerned about something as obscure as DDoS attacks. That’s Denial of Service attacks to those who’ve never been victim. For anyone who’s run or worked for a website, it is a very real threat and a serious concern. One thing you might consider is ProxyShield DDoS Protection. You simply point your DNS to the Proxyshield network, and the traffic is scrubbed before passing clean visitors to your website. Easy does it. You should definitely hop on over and check it out.

Only The Shadow Knows....Sam Raimi

It looks like Sam Raimi is going to be producing a movie version of The Shadow. I'm sure it will be good if he's involved. If he decides to direct it, I'm sure it will be fantastic. The last time The Shadow was brought to the silver screen, it had Alec Baldwin in the role and it was decent. It wasn't great though. I can't wait to see what Sam Raimi does with it.

Accessing your blog from the land of the rising sun

Thinking about moving to Japan? Know anyone who is going to be moving to Japan? There is one thing they are going to need once they get there. One thing of vital importance that can’t be overlooked. Obviously, they are going to need Internet Access in Japan. Follow that link to find a great internet service provider, one of Japan’s very first internet providers, and STILL the only provider with native English support. Unless you’re wanting to completely engulf yourself in Japanese to the point where you avoid all English speaking services, you’re going to need the service this company for your internet access. If you’re going to the land of the rising sun, definitely check them out.

The Interview is in the bag

So, I just got out of my interview and it went pretty well. I sold the sizzle and shook my professional "goods" in their faces. I think I gave them everything they wanted. Now all I have to do is wait and see what they call with. I have no doubt that I will get called and offered a job, I think it is just going to come down to whether or not they want to pay me what I feel I'm worth. All I can do is wait for the call and start the salary negotiations. Wish me luck!

Check out the Card Guide

Hey all. I found a great website to compare credit cards called Card Guide. There is a TON of great information on this site about your next potential credit card company. The site lists cards that give you the best deals on balance transfers and it directs you to the best deals on introductory offers, cash back, and much more. They also have articles on choosing the right card, cash back guides, earning with credit cards, the various credit card charges, and whether to make your next card Visa or Mastercard. There is also a mailing list you can join so they’ll send all of this great info right to your email inbox.
As for navigating the site, it couldn’t be easier. Everything is laid out very logically and it’s easy to find what you’re looking for. There is an easy to use menu on the left side and an index of the most recent articles on the right. Overall, the site looks good and exudes a confidence that they know what they’re talking about. If you’re in the market for a new card, want to trim your current card’s interest rate, or transfer some balances, you’d do best to check out the Card Guide.

New job prospects

I sent my resume to another company the other day and I was called back for an interview. I know someone who works for the company. He's actually the one who called me about the job. I wasn't really looking for a new job, but he thought that this particular opening would be perfect for me and the department has a reputation for paying well. So, he gave me a call and asked me to send him my resume. I did and got the call. He said that they're excited to meet me because of my unusual skill set which happens to be exactly what they're looking for. I've worked two parts of a particular job that most people don't do.
This is a good chance to seriously bump up my income level. I'm talking about a 12k bump if not better. I'm pretty nervous about it because I really want that bump. If I don't get the job or if the offer isn't as good as I'd like it to be, it's not that big of a deal since I have a good job. Like I said, I wasn't really looking for a job. I'm happy where I'm at, but the money could be better. I feel like I was slighted at raise time this last year. I especially feel slighted after find out what a couple of other people in my same or similar positions got. Bonus time is in February and I was going to wait and see what bonus time brought for me. If I got a good bonus then all would be forgiven, but if my bonus matched my raise...which was disapointing, then I was going to look for a new job. Of course, if this works out for me, then I won't have to worry about that.

Get informed about PPP

Are you a postie for PayPerPost? If not, you should be. If you’re a postie or if you’re a future postie, you should be reading the PPP blog. All posters to blogs should be reading it. The PPP blog is the central location to get all of your PPP news, updates, and crazy videos. If there are any updates to the PPP system or if the TOS has changed at all, it will be posted there. Chumscrubber

So, I recorded this movie on my DVR called Chumscrubber. Pretty interesting. I wouldn't say it was groundbreaking or anything, but it had a kinda American Beauty feel to it. I'm not saying the plot was similar or anything, but the overall "feel" of the movie was similar. It followed this kid and his plot was the central plot. His buddy killed himself and he is dealing with it. Then there were a couple of subplots involving his parents and a couple of the other adults in the neighborhood. There were a LOT of recognizable actors in it. I was really surprised at the small parts that a lot of these people took. If you get the chance, watch it. I'm not saying it's going to change your life or anything, but it was entertaining.

Final 300 Trailer

No questions. You MUST go watch the trailer for 300. I simply cannot wait for this movie. For those who don't know what this movie is. It is the movie adaption of a comic by Frank Miller. Essentially, it's the story of Sparta and the 300 Spartan soldiers who took on an entire army. Sparta's entire social structure revolves around war, battle, and fighting. They were renowned as the greatest warriors that ever were. This movie will make a believer out of you.

The Meltdown

So, the ice and snow are finally melting here in Saint Louis. It's not all gone, mind you, but it's going. This is the worst part of any kind of snow. The slushy, mucky, wet slop left over. All of the roads are wet from the giant snow/ice banks on the sides of the road melting. Hopefully it won't drop below freezing again tonight and refreeze all of that water on the road. That would be bad. I have drive on it and that would be bad. For all of you who live in the Midwest, be careful out there.

Have you picked up all of your Christmas gifts yet?

There is a great site that has lots of gift ideas for Christmas called 1 Gift Idea. They have sections for everyone on your Christmas list. There are sections for sections for Family, Babies, Kids, Teenagers, Women, Men, and for those in your office. There is also a neat section on the history of Santa Claus. The site is incredibly easy to navigate and has a LOT of great ideas for gifts. Also, if you order with them, they can hold your orders for a Christmas delivery. They hold it until December 11th, which should bring it in the week before Christmas or so. That’s a nice touch that not a lot of gift sites offer. If you’re in the market for a Christmas gift, definitely give these guys a visit.

A heartbreaking episode of Miami Ink

I was watching Miami Ink last night, which is a great show, and about every other episode or so, someone comes in for a memorial tattoo. Usually it’s a grandfather who died recently, or a brother who was killed in a car accident, or even a child that died from some disease or in a car accident. Last night’s memorial tattoo was horrifically sad. My wife started crying and I was mortified. The memorial tattoo was for a little boy, I think he was 3 or so, who was killed. Of course, they don’t tell you how right away, they bring it up later. So, this guy is getting a dragonfly tattooed on his leg and then he starts telling the story of what it represents and such. His son was fascinated by them, by the way. So, he gets to the part on where he tells how he died. The father accidentally ran over him. They were at a marsh looking for dragonflies and he told the son to stay over by their little picnic setup while he moved the car. The boy didn’t listen and he followed him. He went in front of the car while the father was starting to move and the father just ran over him. I couldn’t believe it. I mean, I can’t imagine what it would be like if something like that happened to me. I just don’t even know what to say after that, so I won’t continue.

Looking for an Internship?

There is a great new website that helps you get Internships called Intern Town. It acts as the intermediary between companies and interns. The site is incredibly easy to navigate and use. I’m talking, easy for companies to find new interns AND easy for interns to find companies looking for someone. So, if you’re a company who’s looking for an intern or an intern looking for an Internship, check this place out.

D&D cartoons...aaahhh, the memories

The Dungeons and Dragons Animated Series has been released. I remember watching this show as a kid. Wow that was fun. Between Dungeons and Dragons, He-Man, Transformers, and G.I. Joe…the boy grew up to become a man. I used to love the Dungeons and Dragons show. I wonder if it would hold up if I watched it now though. I remember thinking the world of Voltron when I was a kid, but a few years back I actually came across it again and I was really disappointed. I think there are a lot of things like that. They hold a magical place in your heart from your youth, but if you were to watch it or experience it now, it would actually take away something from the past. It happened to me with Voltron. I held it in high regard in my memory, but now I can’t help but to think how stupid and repetitive it was. So, I probably will not be buying or even watching the Dungeons and Dragons Animated Series DVD set because of that reason. I don’t want to shatter my childhood memories and kill that little big of magic still left inside me.

Review of Word 2007

I've been using Word 2007 for a couple of days now and I really like it. One thing I really like is the overall feel of it. It's smooth and the whole menu system really makes sense. It is a little annoying to have to switch menus to choose something, but I'm sure with time it will get easier. Another thing I really like is the word count in the lower left status bar. It makes it easy for a student like me to count the words in a paper you're writing. Instead of constantly having to check the word count, you get it instantly while your typing. It's pretty different and I recomend you try it.

If you have the means, I highly recomend you pick one up...

I know I’ve mentioned them before, buy you’ve got to check out UrbanScooters.com for some Electric Scooters. If you’re in the market, there is no other place you should be shopping for them. They’ve got a HUGE selection of some of the best around. For example:
They’ve got some Razor Electric Scooters that really rock. They’ve got them in varying levels of performance, but I recommend the E300. It’s pretty snazzy.
If you want a little bit more umph in your scooter, you could try one of their Gas Scooters. These suckers MOVE!!!
Or, if you’re a sit down kind of bloke, you could always hit their Go Karts. The A.C.E Sports Explorer 150cc Go-Kart is where it’s at. If you have the mean, I highly recommend you pick one up.

Office 2007 in my hands

I was able to bring home Office 2007 Professional Plus. We have a volume license key at the office and they allow us to install it on our home PCs. Lucky us, eh? So, I've got this new version of Office 2007 and my first impression is a slight cross between confusion and wonder. It's confusing because everything is laid out pretty differently. Not bad, just differnet. So, it's going to take some getting used to. It's not like previous upgrades where everything is basically the same, there are just a few new features and the whole look of it has been spit shined. This is completely different. Well, different in it's function and look, I mean, Word still creates documents and Excel still creates spreadsheets and such. It's neat stuff.

Urban legends debunked

The ultimate article for those who seek useless knowledge (like myself). Maxim Online has an article debunking several Urban Legends. There is some great stuff in that article. For instance, one of the listings is that if you touch a baby bird, its mother will not touch it again. According to the article, this is not true with birds. The article states that birds have a terrible sense of smell, so they wouldn’t notice. Apparently though, rabbits have an excellent sense of smell and won’t touch their baby bunny after you’ve manhandled it. You see? SO interesting. Everyone, go now and read the article. I’m going to test you later. Seriously. I’ll use a red pen to mark it up.

Cell: The book...the movie

So, I heard recently that Stephen King's new book Cell is being made into a movie. Eli Roth is making the movie. He's the guy who is responsible for Cabin Fever and Hostel. Needless to say, the movie will be just as violent as the book and will probably have just as many disturbing imagary in it. What I'm hoping they don't do is keep the ending the same as in the book. While I don't want to tell you exactly what happens, I will tell you what doesn't happen, an actual ending. It just kind of stops. It's like there were five more pages and someone left them off. It's annoying and frustrating and I hope that he doesn't do the same thing with the ending of the movie. Let's hope.

NBC's Heroes: Great taste but less filling

So, I watched the fall finale for Heroes on Monday. I have very mixed feelings about the show. Not just last Monday’s episode, but the entire show. The thing is, I’m never really satisfied after watching the show. I’m always hungry for more and can’t wait until the next episode. I’m sure you’re thinking “that’s what they’re trying to do, they want to tuning in each week” but here’s the thing, there is a difference in a good cliffhanger and what they’re doing. There are always new questions brought up in each episode that don’t get resolved each week, or even the following week sometimes. They answer a few questions here and there, but mostly they just ask them. There are a lot of characters, so they spend a lot of time jumping around to each of them and the story doesn’t progress very far in each episode. With all of the questions they bring up, they give fewer answers. They’re generating a question deficit is what is happening. I am always frustrated and never satisfied at the end of the show. For me, Heroes always goes the same way each week. It starts and I think “Ok, good, maybe we’ll get some answers this week”, about half way through I think “Alright, that makes sense, that’s interesting, but how did that happen?”, at the end of the show I always think “What? What time is it? It can’t be over yet. We’re just getting started! What?!?” Ever week, it’s the same thing. I start watching the show enthusiastic, I feel slightly satisfied about 15 minutes in, then I’m spun around in a swivel chair for the last 45 minutes and I’m left disoriented, confused, and bewildered, lying on the floor all dizzy. Don’t get me wrong. I love the show. I’m just not satisfied by it. It’s like going to a great restaurant, the atmosphere is great, the food is delicious, and the wine is just right. After you order, the food takes a very long time to come out, but the waiter returns repeatedly to tell you how good the food looks in the back and it will be up any minute now. Then when you get the food, they give you less than half a glass of wine and only a few small morsels of food. Sometimes you get a little larger portion of one side dish, but the plate is always mostly empty. Boy, what they give you is delicious though. That’s what Heroes is to me. The atmosphere is great, the content is delicious, and the acting is just right…but the portions are annoyingly small for the plate they are delivered on.
Anyway, that’s my rant on NBC’s Heroes, you may now return to your regularly scheduled blog reading.

Who takes wedding favors with them?

Wedding favors. If you went to a wedding and there were no favors, you’d think something was wrong or even think they were cheap for not having any. Of course, have you ever taken the wedding favor home and enjoyed it? Did you save it? The best wedding favor I got was a bunch of chocolates, and that’s just because I could eat them right then and there. Some people don’t like going down the sweets route and want something for their guests to take home. Of course, you don’t want to spend to much, so if you’re looking for some cheap wedding favors, check out that site. They’ve got a bunch of wedding favors that are fun, but won’t break the bank. If I went to a wedding that had a quirky wedding favor like “Love Rocks” for paperweights, I’d probably take it with me and use it. But, a little nameplate placeholder with an off color dolphin on it, probably not.

Miami Ink makes me want to get another tattoo

Have you seen the show Miami Ink on TLC? That's a good show, but the odd thing about it is that it REALLY makes you want a tattoo. I have one already, it's on my right arm. It's the shogun's seal from the comic Lone Wolf & Cub. Behind the seal, written in red, is some chinese writing. The writing translates to "The great road without gates, a thousand paths to choose, yet if you pass this by you shall forever tread the road to hell alone."
So, back to my NEW tattoo. I want one. Watching this show makes me want one. What I'd REALLY like to do is go to Miami beach and get a tattoo by someone from the Miami Ink shop, but that probably won't happen. I know what I want the tattoo to represent, but I don't know exactly how to do it. I want it to represent my twin daughters, but I just can't figure out how. It has to represent my two little girls, but it still has to be somewhat manly. I can't go getting butterflies and flowers tattoo'd on me. If anyone has any suggestions, leave a comment. Please. I'm looking for suggestions.

Rockstartup.com!!!

Rockstartup.com is a new reality show available online. As of the writing of this blog entry, the first two episodes are available online. The show is funny and has likable characters; if you can call the people appearing in a reality show “characters” seeing as the character they play is themselves. So, the premise behind this thing is basically the documentation of a web 2.0 startup company. I’m sure you’re saying, Ok…why would I watch this, I’ve seen this sort of thing before? The thing is, you haven’t, not exactly like this. The difference is that the outcome has not yet been determined. They film as they go. This isn’t a done deal and its future is still uncertain. What’s intriguing about that is that it’s entirely possible for you to help decide the outcome of the show simply by participating. You can go to their web startup company and participate, which could affect the outcome of the show. Another reason to watch is the outrageous personalities of everyone involved. I mean, these guys are crazy. CRAZY! Especially their fearless leader, Ted Murphy. Calling him eccentric would be an understatement. The guy is just naturally entertaining to watch. I would compare him to the crazy, zany, and wacky friend you had from high school who tried so hard to be different and stand out, and stand out he did. He was the guy who always made you laugh, no matter the situation (and most situations were inappropriate to laugh in). Check out the show, you won’t regret it.

HITMAN got the greenlight.

So, it looks like the movie adaptation of another video game has gotten the greenlight. The video game HITMAN. I’ve never played HITMAN, but I hear it was fairly fun. When rumors started surfacing about this movie, Vin Diesel was attached to it. Apparently he is attached no longer. Now Timothy Olyphant is attached to star in it. Honestly, I’m pretty happy about that. Granted, the guy in the video game was bald and Vin Diesel IS bald. I’m sure Timothy won’t shave his head for this role, they’ll just give the hitman hair. I have no problem with that. I a big Timothy Olyphant fan. He was fun and interesting in the movies Scream 2, GO, and The Girl Next Door. He was astounding in Deadwood. I like him as an actor and I look forward to seeing him play the video game hitman.

Voice acting, it's not just for ugly people

Are you the guy who makes the funny voices when telling a story? When describing the latest and greatest movie to your friends, do you reenact scenes and imitate the actors in the roles? Perhaps you need to think about something. Have you ever considered voice acting? Check that link for some of the perks of voice acting. There are lots of reasons to consider voice acting, such as Less Preparation Time, Scripts at Sessions, Play the Impossible Character, and it gives you the Freedom to be Yourself. Check it out.

Deadman...on the rise

So, the movie version of the comic Deadman has taken some steps forward. Apparently, Guillermo Del Toro is directing it. Now, I liked Hellboy a lot (although it could have been better) and I'm one of the few that actually enjoyed Blade II (minus the pro-wrestling stuff at the end), and I've even see a few of his other movies. I think he knows how to capture the mood and atmosphere of the genre. SO, I'm excited he's attached. You should be too. Show some excitement, dammit!

Don't just honeymoon in Hawaii, get married there!

I went on my honeymoon to Hawaii. We spent a couple of days in Honalulu and a couple of days in Maui. Honalulu was nice, but we just didn't want to leave Maui. Now I find this website for Maui Wedings. THAT'S what WE should have done! Forget honeymooning in Maui, GET MARRIED THERE!!! Then just stay. Seriously, my time in Maui is one of the absolute best memories I have next to the birth of my children. Maui is magical and wonderful and great. I snore a little bit, but in Maui, I didn't snore. I'm not making that up. I don't know if it was the sea air or the magical frothing waters of the numerous waterfalls there, but it's absolutely true. If you are getting married and are planning on honeymooning in Hawaii, just go to THIS website for Maui Weddings. If you were just sort of thinking about going to Hawaii, go the site. If you ever just seen a picture or a movie based on Hawaii (like Blue Hawaii with Elvis) then go to the site. You won't regret it and you'll never forget your time in Hawaii.

Give peas a chance

There is a new shirt on one of my favorite sites, the Just Teesin kid's shirt shop, that is funny/cute and I thought I'd share. I love this witty type of shirts for children. Obviously, this is a play on the Beatles song "Give peace a chance".
To go off a very small tangent though. I really hate it when little kids wear inappropriate shirts insinuating something sexual. Under no circumstances is it cute or funny to see something sexy on a 10 year old. A 10 year old is NOT sexy, under any circumstances. Wearing a tight shirt with the word hottie on it is not appropriate. It's like a poster board for pedophiles. Sorry for the rant. Enjoy the rest of your reading...

Great shopping cart software

If you’re reading this, you obviously know how to get around the web. Once you know how to get around the web, you’ll probably eventually want to post things to the web. Once you start posting to the web, you’ll probably want your own webpage. Once you have your own webpage, you’ll probably eventually get around to selling things on your webpage. Once you’ve decided to sell something from your webpage, you’re going to need a shopping cart software to process your orders. That’s where Avactis Shopping Cart Software comes in. Avactis is easy to setup and operate. It consists of two basic parts, the client side which allows the visitors to browse products in the online store, select them, and put them in your shopping cart, then pay for them. The other side is the administrator side which you can administer your site, send customers notifications, and much more. If you’ve got an Ecommerce website, or plan to open one, I would highly recommend checking out Avactis Shopping Cart software.

Superman II: The Donner Cut

So, is anyone else out there looking forward to seeing the Richard Donner cut of Superman II? I'm super stoked for it. I'm a huge Superman fan and I love Superman II, but there are moments in the movie that are goofy and don't really fit in. As it turns out, those are the parts inserted and reshot by the replacement director Lester. Now, this new release can't really be called a final cut of the movie since he never actually finished it, but it's the closest thing we're going to get. I like not to think about this as an alternate cut of the movie, but except I like to think about it as the ultimate "deleted scenes" DVD companion to the regular version of Superman II.

Are you not entertained?

Holy Toledo! What is this guy’s problem over at Techcrunch? He’s completely ripping on an honest endeavor of rockstartup.com and PayPerPost itself. It’s ridiculous. I don’t know why everyone has to try attack others because it doesn’t agree with whatever their beliefs are. It’s ridiculous. Utterly ridiculous. It always comes down to just one thing though…are you entertained? Does it matter if it’s something similar to what someone else has done? Not really. Depending on how you look at things, everything is an imitation of something else. Also, don’t they say that imitation is the highest form of flattery? Also, what does it matter if someone is paid for their opinion. Everyone is paid for their opinion. It’s all a matter of how it’s expressed. Like I said, it all comes down to “Are you entertained?”

A great site for martial arts equipment

I used to teach martial arts. Kenpo to be exact. I’m not sure if you’re familiar with Kenpo, but it’s a pretty brutal, street fighting oriented martial art. There are a lot of shots to the eyes or groin and it’s meant to incapacitate and disable people. If you’re ever up against someone in an open brawl who is trained in Kenpo, pray you’re wearing a cup and you’re life insurance is paid up.
So, the reason I’m writing is to share a little secret with you. There are very few places that sell martial arts equipment that is worth a damn. Most of them are poorly made from cheap materials. There are a couple of good places to buy from though, and one my favorite is Extremely Sharp. They’ve got TONs of stuff on that site. They’ve everything you could want for training and all sorts of fun stuff that you wouldn’t actually train with. They’ve got katanas, training swords, and lots of other self defense equipment. You should really check it out.
